AIESEC International (S)election FAQs #1
Dear all,
We would like to share with you some of the questions we have received so far, likely expected questions from you and the answers to them to guide you and help you with your applications. I hope you are enjoying the process so far.
1. Do endorsement letters need to be signed?
YES. All endorsement letters need to have the signature of the person who is recommending you. And the letter needs to be made on behalf of the entity.
To MCPs, please make sure you have your signature affixed to the endorsement letters you are giving.
2. Do endorsement letters need to be stamped?
This is Preferred, Not Compulsory.
3. Can OEs give endorsement letters?
YES. Member entities can give endorsement letters. The only entity that cannot give is EI.
4. Can an MCVP give an endorsement letter?
As long as the letter is made on behalf of the entity, YES.
5. Do videos have to be 7 mins?
It can be less as long as it does not exceed the 7 min.
6. Can I send a letter of intent to have my legal documents to be submitted after?
YES, and please make sure you are able to place the time you are going to submit your legal documents. But please know that this might affect your selection, as it would put your legalisation in the Netherlands at risk.
7. What does legalised document mean?
It means that your country accepted the file as an official document, which has the ministry's stamp and signature from the officials.
8. Do I have to send the scanned copy of my whole passport?
YES. From page 1 to the last page of your passport. Even if there are blank ones, you still have to scan them and send all pages.
9. What are the eligibility requirements for applying for AIESEC international 2015-2016?
Along side the application pack, Read Part 8 of the International Compendium for more details regarding the: legal structure, obligations and responsibilities of Stichting AIESEC International, as based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Read also Supporting Document “L2_AI Application Process” (attached to the International Compendium).
You can find the International compendium after Nov. VLM
10. I have passport, which will expire before end of June of 2016. I plan to change it soon. Due to this, I can't send copy of my passport, which is proper for application (valid at least 2 years after the start of the new AI term"). It this a barrier to apply?
Key Note: Sending all complete legal document requirement is part of your application process and you need to fulfill all that is stated except in extreme cases. Not sending in all your documents with your application will cause a delay in completing your legalisation process here in the Netherlands and getting your work permit if you happen to be selected.
You definitely will need a new passport and you need to start processing your new passport. You have to send in a letter of notification to Shayo (Elections Manager) with proof that you are in process of a new passport. For example, a receipt or notice from your passport authority saying you are making new passport and when it will be ready. In this case, you attach the proof to the letter.
In the main time, I will advice that you scan all pages of your current passport and send it with your application as stated in the booklet.
11. I will have my diploma in the middle of March, so I also can't send copy of it right now. Can I send it later?
Same Explanation to point 10 above applies. At the end, if you happen to be selected to AI 15-16, it’s up to the PAIe to decide exceptions.
12. Six endorsements.
- Can endorsement be not from MCP?
- Can endorsement be from alumnus?
We do not accept endorsement from Alumni, only from MCPs. 6 endorsement (1 from your home entity and 5 from other MCPs). An MCVP can also endorse you; so long it is on behalf of the country.
13. Are all the documents to be sent in same package or they can be sent in the accordance with availability.
Yes to be sent in same application package.
14. What is the difference between Birth Certificate and Birth Registration Certificate?
The birth certificate is a national official document that issued to you at birth by your main country of Nationality.
Birth registration, this is a document that is issued based on your registration as a child, either with a hospital or with a particular institution. This birth registration can always be done at anytime, not necessarily when you are born. Sometimes, Birth registration is not a national official document.
What we need is the original birth certificate. Legalizing this document means the necessary authority put a seal on the birth certificate to say that is it authentic and should be recognized.
15. Can I have a cover letter in my questionnaire to make it 7 pages?
The expected number of pages for your questionnaire is 6 pages, with or without cover page. It’s up to you. However, because your blank paper challenge is inserted in your questionnaire, you have in total 7pages.
6 Pages questionnaire, with or without cover
+ 1 page blank paper challenge,
=7 pages in total for the questionnaire & Blank paper challenge PDF file.
